Passport, check. Airline ticket [Business Class], check. Perfect hotel researched, found and booked, check. Pull out battered copy of Liebling's "Between Meals" and carry it with you everywhere you go, check. Deep restaurant, cafe and locale reading, underway. Preparation for the life of the flaneur.
Seven months to go. I am beside myself with excitement.

That's so exciting!!! Trip of a lifetime. Can't wait to see the fuzzy photos from epic bars posts that come out of the trip :)
Anticipation is, what, half the fun?
sounds like you have a long 7months ahead, gives you time to plan luggage and what to wear on the plane to guarantee you get bumped up a class.
Really?!!!! I am so excited for you (and the Irish Red-Head, I assume ;-))!
You Lucky Dog!

Hey, Mister! Um... WOW, HOORAY, FANTASTIC!!! I'm thrilled for you! I hope it is everything you hope it to be in your mind. I was terrified it might disappoint but, alas, it did not. So, I'll be hoping the same for you. Although, I will be feeling most confident that my hoping will be useless anyway. It's glorious! I'll be itching for you as the months sail by! :)
Not that you asked, but I thought I'd volunteer two of my favorite places you might want to saunter over and enjoy a meal at... both not on your usual tourist list.
1. Vangenende - old bel-epoque style brasserie full of locals. On Blvd. Saint Germain. Generally large portions of old school French fare at reasonable prices.
2. Aux Chien Qui Fume - Old Paris resto founded in 1740 that once served the workers of Les Halles and now has a more middle management audience. Good classic Parisian food. Open late, more upscale than Vagenede, and featuring a rather unique conversation worthy decor.
Petunia, aren't there international laws about fuzzy bar photos?
Ben, LOL you are correct, sir.
Stu, I have locked down the Business Class already. I agree though that I have received upgrades by being nicely dressed for travel.
Cashmere, I can't believe I am really going!!!! Alas, I am going solo since the IR's ongoing medical issues keep her from traveling. She actually insisted that I finally do this trip. How great is that?
LD, I try!
Mon Oncle, I thought you might weigh in on this one!!!!! But you didn't mention all the CHEESE I plan to eat...
William, I am writing these places in my notebook TODAY. Thank you so much for thinking to share them with me. I can't wait to try them.

Excellent. I will beat you to the punch being there over Christmas. Can't promise there will be any wine left. But, they're French, they'll make more.
