Hello!

Welcome to The Epic! I am launching this blog as a manifesto for and a guide to living well. The title and motto of the blog are taken from the Epicureans, at least some of whom believed in the notion that not one minute of the future was guaranteed to them and that as a result they had the duty to live life to its fullest every moment.

I believe in discovering fun and pleasurable things wherever I find myself each day and I am told I have a knack for unearthing them. My hope is that by sharing in my pleasures and some of my ways of finding them you will begin to collect all the riches that lie in the moments of your life. They are there. Take them! All our lives should be.....Epic.

Fuzzy Photos From Great Bars

Pompano Joe's. Somewhere on the Gulf Coast. Full moon. Silver path across the water. Myers Dark Rum and soda. 50 feet from the ocean. Tonight, no better place.

I love your "fuzzy photos from great bars" series, and will order this exact drink next time I am anywhere near a beach! Hope you enjoyed the moonlight :)

I could be pithy and say you had me at 50 feet from the ocean, but really you had me at Myers Dark.

Sipping some with pineapple juice right now.

Andrew you know its a funny thing. I used to drink it that way too but a crazy Brit got me drinking both cognac and dark rum with soda like you would whiskey and I just adopted it that way!

Monsieur Lane,
Have you ever been to the Napoleon Bar in the French Quarter of New Orleans? It's on my bucket list, but would be curious of your impressions if indeed you have ventured there already.

William, Napoleon House is a GREAT bar. I used to frequent there and haven't been in for awhile. I just got into a rotation of other bars. This is as authentic NOLA as it gets. The food is pretty good too, just stay with the local classics.

Now, I'm going to have to go back on my next trip!!!
