...I just wanted to say that I'll look after you, Tracy. Will you mind being looked after?
She held him away from her and looked at him. She smiled. Her eyes were introspective. "That's what it means being Mr and Mrs doesn't it? They don't say Mrs and Mr. But you need looking after too. Let's just look after each other."
"All right. But I'd rather have my job than yours."

Hello!
Welcome to The Epic! I am launching this blog as a manifesto for and a guide to living well. The title and motto of the blog are taken from the Epicureans, at least some of whom believed in the notion that not one minute of the future was guaranteed to them and that as a result they had the duty to live life to its fullest every moment.
I believe in discovering fun and pleasurable things wherever I find myself each day and I am told I have a knack for unearthing them. My hope is that by sharing in my pleasures and some of my ways of finding them you will begin to collect all the riches that lie in the moments of your life. They are there. Take them! All our lives should be.....Epic.

It's funny--my husband and I have been married nearly 32 years, we married very young and all those years are a (mostly) pleasant blur of raising children, struggling financially, having adventures, continuing our educations. Now, we are empty nesters and "achievers" and in middle age and I can't believe I went through all those years just assuming he would be there. We both have realized in the past year 1) how much we've taken each other for granted (not in a negative way, just kind of oblivious) and 2) what a precious gift we've been given and thus need to appreciate every remaining moment we have together!
Once again, I am heartsick over your loss of the Irish Redhead. But in her honor I am certainly making sure I never take my husband for granted as long as I have him!
Cashmere that is SO wonderful.......thank you. We had 30 years together if you round it up to this fall when we would have had our anniversary. A favorite lyric of mine says "you've got to love all you can every moment of your life....and love till you've loved it away". We gave it a good run at least.

It's still your anniversary, Counselor.
Also, somehow I missed this post. OMSS is sometimes my #1 favorite Bond movie. I've read Casino Royale, Goldfinger, and Thunderball. Shall I read this one, too?
Hi Ben. Thanks for the thought and you of course are right. It will always be our anniversary.
DO read OHMSS. It is a great book. I think all of the Bond books are fantastic with the possible exception of The Spy Who Loved Me but I still give IF credit for taking a big artistic risk with that one in light of his other work.
