Hello!

Welcome to The Epic! I am launching this blog as a manifesto for and a guide to living well. The title and motto of the blog are taken from the Epicureans, at least some of whom believed in the notion that not one minute of the future was guaranteed to them and that as a result they had the duty to live life to its fullest every moment.

I believe in discovering fun and pleasurable things wherever I find myself each day and I am told I have a knack for unearthing them. My hope is that by sharing in my pleasures and some of my ways of finding them you will begin to collect all the riches that lie in the moments of your life. They are there. Take them! All our lives should be.....Epic.

From The Epic Cellar: Coppola Votre Sante Pino Noir

I am a huge fan of Francis Ford Coppola wines.  At all price points FFC seems to be deeply committed to making a wonderful product.  This $14 Pino Noir is no exception.  I found it very satisfying with flavors of raspberry, violets and maybe a hint of sandalwood.  Actually, I lifted that from the company web site.  Anyhow, I loved the flavor and aroma of this inexpensive wine and it was really good after an hour or so of breathing.  Ten months in French oak barrels, why say more?  Highly recommended.

And the winery in Napa Valley is highly recommended. The old Gallo winery, I believe it was. I may have the previous occupant wrong, but it was a well known name. He has quite a bit of his movie memorabilia on a second floor and some fantastic grounds to roam about and enjoy a bottle in.

Turling, I HAVE to go there! At one time FFC had a restaurant in San Francisco that was really great too but that was years ago.
